Evan Fay is an American furniture designer and maker born in Traverse City, MI. He received a BFA in 2014 from Kendall College of Art and Design as a student of the furniture design department, and an MFA in 2016 while studying 3D design at Cranbrook Academy of Art. Shortly after graduation Fay co-founded the design studio Aratani・Fay in Detroit where it currently operates.
“My aim is to embrace irregularity through craft, focusing on intuitive construction methods and spontaneous form by rhythmically connecting and growing each piece. I hope my work finds in an inhabitable position between design art and craft, balancing a spectrum of metaphor and utility”.
