Materials: Brass, Marble

The Collection ‘Further From Function’ includes seven subtle variations of a small table ‘IF’ and a limited edition of a sculptural side table ‘KEPT’. Produced in silver-grey marble and solid brass, the combination of materials and beyond- functionality proportioning creates a line that associates the furniture with oversized pieces of jewellery. ‘IF‘ tables were designed during a two-year process of sketching.
Each of the sketches abstracted elements of the previous construction by focusing on individual elements of the objects. In this manner, ab straction and visible excess led back to a minimal approach that begins far from the notions of functionality that influenced the initial drawings.
