Roland de Mul is an intuitive artist and designer whose work emerges from a fluid dialogue between imagination and material. Most of his designs originate as mental visions—ideas formed instinctively—while the chosen material completes the final stage of the creative process. At other times, it is the material itself, with its inherent possibilities and constraints, that sparks the initial concept. This reciprocal relationship between thought and matter defines the essence of his practice. De Mul’s objects are marked by a strong sense of character: bold, assured, and often carrying a distinctly masculine presence.
