Roman Šedina (b. 1982) operates at the intersection of art and design, where material, process, and gesture converge. His practice has long centered on the archetypal format of the vessel—most notably monumental, hand-thrown vases and bowls that serve as both object and proposition. Each piece begins with an intensely laborious and physically demanding process, emphasizing the discipline and endurance inherent to traditional ceramic making. Rather than preserving the vessel in its original state, Šedina deliberately intervenes in its completion. Through acts of deformation, crushing, or controlled breakage, he deconstructs the very form he has painstakingly created.
