Galerie Philia, in partnership with Leilão Design and Gisela Simas, is pleased to present The Philia & Kids Auction, taking place on June 9, 2026, in the evening in São Paulo. Conceived as both a cultural gathering and a philanthropic initiative, the event unfolds as a constellation of moments bringing together exhibition, conversations, a short film screening, and a charitable auction, marking a new chapter in the development of the Philia & Kids program.
Philia & Kids is a project initiated by Ygaël Attali, with the ambition of introducing children to the world of design through creation and the development of functional objects. For this third edition, developed in Petrópolis with Gisela Simas, SOS Serra and a group of master artisans led by Guga Casari, children from public schools were invited to transform their drawings into sculptural furniture pieces. Inspired by the surrounding landscape and produced using reclaimed wood, these works embody both the imagination of their young authors and a broader reflection on material reuse, craftsmanship, and environmental awareness.
The evening will also feature a conference by Maria Cecília Loschiavo, offering a critical and historical perspective on Brazilian design and its social dimensions, as well as the projection of a short documentary dedicated to Philia & Kids III, retracing the process, encounters, and transformations that shaped this edition.
More than sixty works will be presented as part of the auction, including thirteen limited edition pieces created through the Philia & Kids workshops, alongside forty nine additional works generously donated by leading Brazilian designers and internationally recognised figures in collectible design. Each work forms part of a collective gesture, bringing together different generations and practices around a shared commitment to creativity and transmission.
All proceeds from the auction will be entirely dedicated to supporting and expanding the Philia & Kids initiative. At its core, the project seeks to establish a permanent design school in Petrópolis, offering children ongoing access to creative education, craftsmanship, and design practices. Through this long term vision, the initiative aims to create sustainable opportunities for younger generations, positioning design as a tool for empowerment, learning, and social transformation.
