Materials: Black marble

A divergent boundary occurs when two tectonic plates move away from each other. Along these boundaries, earthquakes are common and magma rises from the Earth’s mantle to the surface, solidifying to create new oceanic crust. This piece is made with one whole black marble plate divided in two and some marble crusts in the bottom. A void is emerging to the surface, one plate is splitted and now is composed from two pieces. If cracks keep appearing, how many fragments compose its whole plate? its whole self? Cracks are needed to let light inside.
