Philia and Kids flyer

Philia & Kids is the philanthropic initiative of Galerie Philia, dedicated to introducing children to the world of design through collaborative creative workshops developed alongside designers, artisans, schools, and local communities.

For each edition, children are invited to participate in a long term creative process where they observe landscapes, discover materials, draw ideas, and imagine their own sculptural furniture pieces or objects. Working closely with designers and master artisans, their drawings and concepts are then transformed into real functional works crafted using local materials and traditional know how.

This third edition in Petrópolis was developed in close collaboration with Gisela Simas and SOS Serra, whose work supporting local communities helped make these workshops and exchanges possible. Together with schools, artisans, institutions, designers, and local collaborators, the project created an environment where creativity, transmission, and collective learning could meaningfully emerge.

More than simple workshops, these projects create meaningful exchanges between generations, craftsmanship, environmental awareness, and contemporary creation. Through this process, children are encouraged to develop confidence in their own imagination while discovering design as a tool for expression, collaboration, and social connection.

Since its first editions in France, Philia & Kids has explored how design can become a form of social design: a tool for transmission, education, imagination, and empowerment.

Beyond the workshops and exhibitions themselves, we are currently working toward the creation of a long term design school in Petrópolis dedicated to children from underserved communities, offering regular access to craftsmanship, art, and design education.

By supporting Philia & Kids, you contribute directly to the continuation and expansion of this long term initiative.

All donations help fund future workshops, support the participating local artisans and collaborators, provide access to creative education, and contribute to the development of this permanent educational structure in Petrópolis.

We would also like to warmly thank all the partners, artisans, schools, institutions, designers, and collaborators whose generosity, knowledge, and commitment continue to make this initiative possible.

Every contribution helps sustain and expand this vision.
