INTERVIEW
We always start with discovery. We dive into the client’s lifestyle, passions, and aspirations… especially their daily habits and rituals. I often begin by asking how they want their home to feel. This allows us to really understand what they value, how the spaces will be utilized, and what elements will evoke those feelings. From there, we tackle space planning, create a vision, and then move into design concepts that stay true to the client’s story and the narrative of their home.
My journey into interior design began through a deeply personal experience. When my daughter was just five months old, she was diagnosed with leukemia, and shortly after, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Navigating these health challenges made me profoundly aware of how our environment impacts our well-being. I realized that spaces aren’t just about aesthetics…they influence our stress levels, our thoughts, our ability to heal and rest, and ultimately how we show up in life.
This understanding drew me to interior design. As I renovated our home during that time, I saw firsthand how colors, textures, personal items, and elements of nature could transform a space, not just visually, but emotionally, nurturing the soul in a deeply meaningful way.
Absolutely! There are several moments I could point to, but one that stands out is being named HGTV Designer of the Year—not just once, but twice! It was such a massive honor and surreal to be recognized among so many talented designers. To see our work bringing beauty and soul into people’s homes in a way that resonates both personally and within the industry is incredibly humbling.
The key to successful design is creating spaces that feel deeply personal and intentional. For a design to succeed, it has to resonate emotionally, not just look beautiful.
In business, the same principle applies…listening to clients, understanding their story, and guiding them through a seamless, elevated process ensures that the outcome exceeds expectations. We truly believe in world-class work, wholehearted service, and a joyful approach to everything we do!
Our work is rooted in intentional, timeless design. It’s less about a fixed aesthetic…many people find it difficult to define our style because we thoughtfully blend influences in a way that feels both curated and unexpected.
If I had to name it, I would describe it as warm, organic modern. We’re passionate about creating spaces that feel deeply personal, grounded, and enduring, homes that evoke a sense of quiet luxury. Each design is approached as a prototype, entirely original and never before seen.
Our mantra is simple: what is rare is remembered.
It’s so difficult to choose a favorite project, but our Kips Bay bathroom stands out as one of my absolute favorites. It gave us the opportunity to truly push boundaries and create something entirely unexpected.
From the rich layering of color and texture to the statement stone and expansive shower, every element was designed to captivate. It was visually stimulating in the most intentional and refined way, an experience as much as a space!
Learning to balance creativity with boundaries. As designers, we care deeply, and it’s easy to overextend. I’ve learned that clear processes and expectations actually protect the creativity and allow us to serve our clients at the highest level.
Focus on understanding how people live, not just how spaces look. Great design is about solving problems, creating flow, and supporting daily life.
Also…be patient. Building a refined point of view and a strong business takes time, intention, and consistency.
You’re only as strong as your partners. We are fortunate to collaborate with some of the most exceptional architects, builders, artisans, and craftsmen, because truly, every project is a collective effort from start to finish.
We approach each partnership with a commitment to world-class work, wholehearted service, and a sense of joy in the process.
We love Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara and strive to bring those principles to our clients…always giving more than is expected.
One of my favorite podcasts is The Ed Mylett Show, which offers insightful strategies for success in business and, more importantly, in life!
Bring nature indoors through biophilic design, it has a remarkable ability to reduce stress and restore balance.
Everyone wants their home to feel like a personal sanctuary: warm, meaningful, and even better than a vacation. Incorporating patterns, textures, and forms inspired by nature is a powerful way to create that sense of calm and connection.
We have so much on the horizon! From a ski chalet in Big Sky, Montana, to a serene lakehouse in the Carolinas, and of course projects in the DFW area…our work is truly spanning the country, including San Diego, Nebraska, and beyond.
Thank you so much Ginger, for this lovely interview!
