Ana Volante

Ana Volante is a Venezuelan interior designer whose multidisciplinary practice spans residential and commercial interiors, furniture design, and the curation of art and objects. Through her studio, she develops spaces that balance functionality with a strong sense of atmosphere, creating environments that feel both refined and deeply personal.

Guided by a sensitivity to materiality, color, texture, and detail, Volante approaches each project as a carefully composed dialogue between design and art. Working closely with contemporary artists from Venezuela and beyond, she integrates artworks, furniture, and decorative elements into cohesive spatial narratives, cultivating interiors that evoke emotion, character, and cultural depth.

Where were you born and where are you from?

Born in Caracas, Venezuela.

What is your first memory connected to the art world?

My grandfather. He was an architect and a painter.

Have you always worked in the art/design field?

Yes!

What led you to design creation?

The necessity to explore new shapes, textures, and create what I imagine.

How would you describe your creative process and its influences?

Intense. I get 100% involved in the creative concept of all my designs. It’s a passion for creation.

Could you describe a typical day of your work?

Office work, site visits to sense all the processes, and meetings with clients.

Why did you choose the specific materials you work with?

Wood is the most versatile material/texture that I know. I love how it works in every design I make. It adapts to any concept.

What are the technical particularities of your creations?

Balance. I like to defy balance by designing unique shapes.

What advice could you give to beginning artists who would like to create sculptural design works?

Be passionate about your creations. Believe in them, explore many materials. Defy your own creations.

If your works had to belong to a design movement, how would you define it?

Art Deco.

What designers and artists have influenced you?

Milo Baughman.

What contemporary designers do you appreciate?

Kelly Wearstler, Harry Nuriev, Bureau Betak.

What contemporary artists, in any kind of art, have you been inspired by?

If you had to summarize your creations in one word or sentence, what would it be?

I like to design sculptural pieces that are filled with a strong personality.
