Francesca De Giorgi
5 Picks from PHILIA Collection
Francesca De Giorgi graduated in Architecture from the Politecnico di Milano and began her career as a designer of interiors and exhibition spaces. In 2010, she started exploring the world of design when she created her first collection of fabric lamps for her family’s historic workshop based in Lecce (Puglia). Since then, she has been working with light, designing lamps and researching textiles. She collaborates with architecture studios to develop special projects while also producing her own collections.
In 2023, she founded the brand NASSI, named after her grandmother, who established the workshop, to narrate the story of a family tradition carried on by three generations of women. Through her work, she conveys the spirit of her native land, capturing the contemporaneity of an ancient place, the sustainability of artisanal production, and the precious value that time adds to creation.
“The hardness and coolness of a material, yet able to convey all the poetry of an architecture.”
“I’m fascinated by the ability to unite minimalism with the ancient forms of popular tradition, as seen in Ohla Studio’s work.”
“The raw freshness and spontaneity of a prototype — it could live happily alongside my chair collection.”
“New iconic – the balance of purity and expressive depth.”
“My weakness, my passion: the folding screen, this one at once steadfast and ethereal.”
