Catie Newell is an American architect, designer, and educator whose work explores the intersection of architecture, installation, and material experimentation. As the founding principal of Alibi Studio and Director of the Digital and Material Technologies program at the University of Michigan, she investigates how light, atmosphere, and material transformation can reshape our perception of space.
Working across installations, public interventions, and architectural projects, Newell creates immersive environments that reveal overlooked qualities of the built world. Characterized by a poetic and research-driven approach, her practice examines themes of temporality, perception, and change, inviting audiences to engage with architecture through sensory experience and unexpected spatial encounters.
