Yasemin Toygar is an Istanbul-born designer whose practice is deeply informed by art, history, and the sensory experience of space. Raised in a city shaped by the legacy of three empires, her early environment played a formative role in guiding her toward design. From a young age, she developed a fascination with the human body and its sensory relationship to the built environment—an interest that later led her to London to study Architecture.
Driven by a continuous search for meaning in everyday objects, Toygar began to experiment independently with color, texture, and structure, giving rise to her eponymous design brand. Her work is defined by a poetic harmony of contrasts: softness and rigidity, abstraction and material presence, lightness and weight. These dialogues are articulated through a rich yet considered palette of materials, including marble, onyx, brass, and velvet, paired with evocative color compositions.
Central to Toygar’s philosophy is the belief that furniture should reflect an individual’s personal perception of the world. Customization is therefore intrinsic to her practice. Each piece is hand-crafted in a small artisanal atelier in Istanbul, ensuring that every object possesses its own unique character—imbued with material integrity, emotional resonance, and a refined sense of place.
