Marie-Lise Féry was born in Paris and began her career studying art trading before moving to New York, where she discovered the city as a theatre — its architecture, light, and rhythm shaping her sensibility as an observer. When she returned to France, she opened her own gallery, a place of free expression where she curated eclectic visual narratives blending centuries of style, from the 17th century to the 1970s. This immersion in objects, history, and emotion became a formative apprenticeship, teaching her to view design as both memory and dialogue.

In 2015, Féry founded Magic Circus Éditions, a design house dedicated to exploring light as a living language. Drawing on the decorative vocabularies of the 1920s, 1930s, and 1970s, she reinterprets their legacies with a contemporary and sensitive lens. Her creations embrace theatricality and poetry while remaining rooted in balance, lightness, and an enduring sense of surprise.

At the heart of Magic Circus Éditions is a deep respect for craftsmanship. Brass is shaped in northern Portugal, worked into polished, brushed, or patinated finishes that each reveal light differently. Mouth-blown glass from European glassworks — Murano, the Czech Republic, Poland — brings texture, rhythm, and subtle diffusion. Even wood is transformed with artisanal precision, using techniques such as Japanese shou sugi ban to reveal its tactile grain.

Through collections and bespoke commissions, Féry offers more than lighting: she creates sculptural presences that inhabit space with intimacy, weaving together memory, material, and imagination into a timeless expression of light.
