Founded in 2020 by Alesia Sirokina, Square in Circle is a lighting studio celebrated for designs that unite geometric rigor with a sense of motion and poetic expression. Informed by the language of dance, the studio’s work explores the dynamic relationship between form, space, and the viewer. A formative influence is Oskar Schlemmer’s 1922 Bauhaus ballet, which inspired the studio’s first and emblematic design, Dance of Geometry, and continues to resonate throughout Sirokina’s evolving practice.
Square in Circle’s creations play with symmetry and asymmetry, flatness and depth, resulting in compositions that are visually complex yet restrained. Using a carefully reduced palette of shapes and materials, each piece unfolds as an ever-shifting arrangement, appearing to move as the viewer’s perspective changes.
As Founder and Creative Director, Sirokina brings a singular vision to the studio. Her sculptural lighting designs are defined by a layered materiality, pairing the warmth of brushed brass with cool-toned metals and frosted glass to achieve a balance of elegance and playfulness. With a background in interior architecture and over a decade of experience in architectural practice, Sirokina ensures that every Square in Circle piece achieves the highest standards of aesthetic refinement, engineering precision, and craftsmanship.
