Romanian set and interior designer Cosmin Florea blends performance scenography, fashion styling, and handcrafted craft into a singular creative practice. With formal roots in theatrical design, he earned recognition in 2019 for his Forest of the Hanged scenography, nominated for a UNITER Award. He also has a background in fashion styling, having contributed to magazines such as Harper's Bazaar Romania. Drawn to Transylvania's rich artistic heritage, Florea established an ethical collaboration with local artisans to create collections of hand-woven rugs and ceramics. These works transform vernacular techniques, UNESCO-recognized carpet weaving and traditional pottery, into refined, collectible objects.
His practice thus enacts a dialogue between stagecraft, high fashion sensibility, and regional craft traditions, presented today as intimate domestic objects that resonate with both cultural memory and contemporary refinement.
