Malwina Konopacka is a Warsaw-born designer and illustrator whose practice bridges contemporary design, illustration, and sculptural form. Born in 1982, she studied Industrial Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and illustration at the Universität der Künste in Berlin. Her early work as an illustrator for leading publications profoundly shaped her visual language, and it was from this dialogue with drawing that the seminal OKO ceramic collection emerged. Conceived as an exploration of illustration translated into three-dimensional, functional objects, OKO reflects Konopacka’s interest in the expressive potential of everyday forms.
The first OKO object was created in 2014, marking the beginning of a continuously expanding collection. In 2023, Konopacka introduced OKO/Design, a tableware line including objects such as the UCHO mug, WIT mug, and JULA egg cup, extending her distinctive visual vocabulary into new functional contexts.
All of Konopacka’s works are handcrafted and hand-painted in close collaboration with skilled artisans and ceramic technologists, underscoring her commitment to craftsmanship and material integrity. Beyond functional design, OKO also serves as a starting point for sculptural and artistic explorations. Her modular ceramic totems—MAMA (2019), TULĄCA MAMA (2020), FORMY (2020)—as well as the installation FONTANNA (2019), inhabit the boundary between visual art and design.
Konopacka’s ceramic works are held in numerous private collections and in the design collection of the National Museum in Kraków, and are regularly exhibited in Poland and internationally.
