Mary Lynn Carlo

Marylynn Massoud and Carlo Massoud are Beirut-based siblings whose collaborative practice explores the dialogue between art, design, architecture, and craftsmanship. Marylynn, a ceramic artist trained at La Manufacture de Sèvres in France, embraces distortion and imperfection as essential expressions of the handmade. Since 2005, she has developed her ceramics studio in Beirut, creating sculptural works, architectural pieces, and functional collections presented internationally at galleries and leading design fairs. Carlo, a designer and architect, leads a multidisciplinary studio dedicated to singular interiors, combining vintage elements, bespoke objects, and architectural interventions shaped by travel and cultural exchange.

Since 2016, the siblings have collaborated on experimental works that reinterpret familiar objects through intuition, material exploration, and hands-on making. Their practice brings together Marylynn’s expressive approach to ceramics and Carlo’s disciplined understanding of form, resulting in distinctive pieces rooted in Lebanese craftsmanship. Their recent Elephant Project transforms colored lightweight concrete into oversized furniture, conceived and produced in Lebanon with local artisans.
