Volta is a Paris-based practice operating at the intersection of architecture, interior design, and sculptural object-making. Founded in 2016 by Agathe Lavaud, the studio is defined by a meticulous attention to detail and a nuanced dialogue between contemporaneity and tradition. Each project is approached as a singular exploration, shaped by its context and guided by a personalized investigation of volumes, materials, and lived experience.
Agathe Lavaud trained in interior design at ESAG Penninghen, graduating in 2014, before continuing her architectural studies at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Marne-la-Vallée, including a formative semester in Italy. Her professional trajectory includes experience at Renzo Piano Building Workshop—where she obtained her Habilitation à la Maîtrise d’Œuvre—as well as collaborations with Wilmotte & Associés, Vidalenc Architectes, and Thierry Lemaire Architecture. These influences inform a practice rooted in architectural rigor and refined spatial sensibility.
Alongside its architectural work, Volta is recognized for its kinetic metal mobiles and sculptural decorative objects. Drawing inspiration from mid-century modernism and the work of Alexander Calder, these hand-assembled creations explore balance, movement, and chromatic harmony. Crafted in France, they unite precise metalwork with poetic expression, offering sculptural accents that resonate across both contemporary and classical interiors.
