Malte Gormsen stands as a distinguished atelier where Danish cabinetmaking heritage meets the precision of modern innovation. Rooted in Copenhagen, the studio creates bespoke interiors and furniture that honor the noble character of wood while embracing contemporary technology. Every commission becomes a celebration of craftsmanship, executed with meticulous attention to detail for private residences, fine dining spaces, luxury boutiques and world-class hotels across the globe.
The studio’s founder, Malte Gormsen, grew up surrounded by creativity. His mother nurtured art as a way of life, while his father, both cabinetmaker and architect, instilled deep reverence for materials and form. Guided by a childhood instinct to make and shape, Malte apprenticed early, first in a small Scottish workshop and later under Niels Roth Andersen, where he contributed to the legacy of iconic designers such as Finn Juhl and Helge Vestergaard Jensen.
This foundation established a company that is today recognized among the most respected carpentry studios in the Nordic region and beyond. Classic techniques are thoughtfully combined with advanced production to ensure timeless durability and visual purity. Wood is treated as a living material, one that carries history, warmth and soul.
From the Herlev workshop and design studio, each piece is conceived in close collaboration with architects, designers and clients. Tailor-made solutions emerge with clarity and refinement, resulting in exclusive furniture and interiors that balance enduring function with the quiet poetry of exceptional craftsmanship.
