Dolomitisch is a design studio based in Bolzano in the heart of the Dolomites. The project originates from the conceptual vision of Luca Da Ros and is developed through the design work of Riccardo Vendramin. Rooted in a region where woodworking has long been part of the local culture, the studio brings together traditional craftsmanship and digital technologies.
At the center of Dolomitisch’s practice is a bespoke process that transforms landscapes into tactile objects. Using satellite elevation data, the studio retrieves the topography of any mountain in the world and reconstructs it through a high-definition three-dimensional model. The terrain is then carved into solid wood with CNC technology and finished by hand, revealing ridges, valleys and contours as precise micro-topographies.
