Taller Batán is a woodworking studio based in Mexico City, founded in 2020 by Sebastián Cappiello, Marco Cordero, and Emilio Torres. Rooted in an ecological project in the pine–oak forests of Donato Guerra, Mexico, the practice begins with the responsible reclamation of wood and guides each piece through its full journey—from tree to timber to finished form.
Taller Batán researches, designs, and hand-crafts every object in-house, often carving from a single block and approaching wood through a sculptural lens. The result is functional furniture and objects with a monolithic presence and a deep celebration of materiality, grounded in an understanding of process, place, and the intrinsic qualities of wood.
