Hugo França is a Brazilian sculptor and designer whose practice explores the relationship between nature, craftsmanship, and sustainable design. Working from his atelier in Trancoso, he transforms reclaimed tree trunks, roots, and fallen timber into sculptural furniture and functional objects, revealing the expressive qualities inherent in each piece of wood. Guided by the natural grain, textures, and irregular forms of the material, França develops works that celebrate the history and character of the forest while challenging conventional approaches to woodworking.

Rooted in an intuitive and deeply material-led process, França combines traditional craftsmanship with sculptural intervention, allowing each work to emerge through a dialogue between maker and material. His distinctive practice redefines discarded wood as a medium for contemporary collectible design, creating timeless pieces that blur the boundaries between sculpture and furniture. Defined by their organic forms, monumental presence, and environmental consciousness, his works invite a deeper connection to nature and the enduring beauty of natural materials.
