FAKASAKA Design is a Brazilian design studio founded by Fernando Akasaka, whose practice explores the intersection of sculptural form, artisanal craftsmanship, and material experimentation. Established in 2007, the studio creates collectible furniture, lighting, and decorative objects distinguished by bold geometries, expressive textures, and a strong Brutalist sensibility. Guided by a free-form approach to making, FAKASAKA transforms natural materials and metals into timeless works that balance sculptural presence with functional design.
Rooted in a philosophy of continuous experimentation and meticulous handcraft, FAKASAKA embraces trial and error as an essential part of the creative process. Working closely with artisans and, more recently, architect Alexia Akasaka, the studio develops refined collections that celebrate material honesty, exceptional craftsmanship, and the enduring dialogue between contemporary design, sculpture, and Brazilian artisanal tradition.
